Kelly Osbourne shared her bitter and difficult experience following the death of her father, Ozzy Osbourne, in her latest interview. The 41-year-old television star, who had been sober for over four years, reached a point in the months after her father's passing that she described as 'rock bottom.'
Dark Times After Death
In the podcast 'We Need To Talk,' Kelly Osbourne expressed her feelings, saying, 'I was just a shell of myself. I couldn't talk, I couldn't eat, I couldn't do anything. I was just empty.' She also noted that these feelings drove her back to addiction and alcohol use. She added, 'I was broken in every aspect of my life and completely unable to take care of myself. At that time, I was at rock bottom.'
Return to Sobriety
Kelly Osbourne emphasized that she has now returned to sobriety, stating, 'I can honestly say that today I am eight months sober.' She also spoke about the people around her, saying, 'I have narrowed my circle of friends. Because I lost many of my friends. People don’t want to see sadness and expected me to get through this situation.' She continued, 'I will never get over the grief of my father.'
Kelly, who is the mother of a three-year-old son named Sidney with Slipknot musician Sid Wilson, has previously talked about her recurring struggles with addiction and recovery. In 2021, she mentioned that after nearly four years of sobriety, a glass of champagne led her back to alcohol use.
In this interview, she stated that her use of alcohol and drugs was never for fun, but rather to escape difficult emotions. She added, 'I never did drugs because I wanted to have fun. I just didn’t want to feel the pain.'
Since her rise to global fame as a teenager on the MTV reality show 'The Osbournes,' Kelly Osbourne has struggled with feelings of insecurity and self-doubt. However, she is now working to create a new life for herself, especially after returning to the UK, where she spent much of her childhood.
Major Life Changes
These transformations have coincided with Kelly's decision to distance herself from the Osbourne family. She stated, 'My family is a little upset that I have decided to go home and find myself for a while.' However, she emphasized that this distancing has not affected her relationship with her brother Jack.
Kelly Osbourne also talked about the significant changes that have occurred in her life following her father's death, saying, 'The girl who was here before my father passed away is dead. That girl will never come back.' Referring to her challenges in life as a mother and the loss of Ozzy, she pointed out that it is now time to rediscover her true self.
In conclusion, she said, 'I no longer see myself as ugly, I don’t see myself as fat, and I don’t think I am worthless. Now I know what my worth is, and this is my time to shine.'
