She said, "I think people who have many children are a mix of high and low achievers, and there is nothing in between."
She added, "Don't you think having a lot of children is really an ugly thing? People are taking advantage of government benefits, and some of them have no disabilities and no reason not to work, yet they have many kids just for fun."
Critique of Celebrity Decisions
Katherine also criticized celebrities, particularly mentioning Natalie Portman, who recently gave birth to her third child at the age of 45. She said, "Some celebrities decide to have another child just because they can. This kind of behavior indicates that they do not have a proper understanding of the realities of life."
Ryan, who has children named Fred (5 years old), Fina (3 years old), and Holland (10 months old), emphasized that those who exploit government support are engaging in behavior that is somewhat unacceptable and far from the culture she believes in. She said, "Some of these parents have many children and have no education and are dealing with issues like drug and alcohol dependency."
Ryan also noted that in contrast to these families, there are wealthy parents who can afford the extra costs and care for their children. She said, "People who have four children see it as a luxury experience because they must be at a certain level of wealth to afford the costs related to their children's education and entertainment."
