Eli Milroy, a British driver, expressed deep gratitude for the courage of his teammate Luke Hartog in saving his life from a horrific incident at the China GT race at the Shanghai International Circuit, saying, "It’s a miracle that I’m alive."

Dangerous Incident on the Race Track

The heartbreaking incident occurred when two cars competing collided with Milroy's Ferrari, setting it ablaze. In a video captured of the incident, Milroy's car can be seen spinning off the track with flames and thick smoke rising above it.

Courage and Sacrifice in Critical Moments

Luke Hartog, a 23-year-old Dutch driver, immediately rushed to help Milroy upon witnessing the incident. He risked his life, unbuckled his seatbelt, and exited the vehicle to save Milroy from the flames. Hartog, with great effort and using a fire extinguisher, managed to control the flames and pull Milroy from the car.

Milroy is currently hospitalized and recovering. He suffers from pain due to several fractures and lung damage, but he is extremely grateful for Hartog's actions. He said in the hospital, "Every step Hartog took was flawless. I have no serious burns, and it’s a miracle."

Special Bond Between the Two Drivers

After the incident, Milroy shared a picture of himself in the hospital and wrote, "I’m alive, and I owe all of this to Luke Hartog who saved my life." He also noted that this incident has created a strong bond between them. Milroy said, "One day I will tell this story to our three children and introduce Luke as their greatest hero."

Hartog also reacted to the incident, writing, "When I saw a car on fire, I had no choice. I thought the driver couldn’t get out on his own." He emphasized that this action is beyond just himself and that many would do the same in such a situation.
