Stanton said on the "Stick to Football" podcast: "My experience as a child and watching my son, James, progress shows that in situations like this, players rarely reach their potential. When parents or others around the player apply pressure, bad things usually happen." He added that in 70 to 80 percent of cases, problematic parents prevent players from achieving necessary success.
This criticism is related to the behavior of JJ Gabriel's father, Joe O'Carroll, who is known as a pushy and unpredictable individual.
