Lauren Steadman, a prominent Paralympic athlete, claimed the championship title in the thrilling final of Celebrity MasterChef on Friday night. This nail-biting episode saw Lauren compete against Olympic medalist weightlifter Emily Campbell and Shakira Khan, a contestant from the television show Love Island.
The Final Challenge and Outstanding Performance
In this competition, all three finalists were required to prepare and present a flawless three-course meal to be judged by Celebrity MasterChef judges, Grace Dent and Giorgio Locatelli. Lauren showcased her passion and creativity in her dishes, earning this prestigious title.
Born with a disability in part of her right arm, Lauren presented an appetizer of scallops fried in chili butter, accompanied by coconut lentil puree and spinach with fresh apple slices. The main course included beef Wellington with tarragon-flavored mashed potatoes, caramelized onions, pumpkin puree, and broccoli. The dessert featured classic sticky toffee pudding with dates and caramel sauce.
Reactions to the Victory
In response to her victory, Lauren said: "This success is as valuable to me as a gold medal at the Paralympics. There have been moments that have truly been unbelievable for me, but this is one of them." Grace Dent, one of the judges, remarked about her: "Lauren has cooked at an extraordinary level throughout this competition. Today she presented amazing dishes."
Giorgio Locatelli, Grace's colleague, also praised Lauren, adding: "She seems to turn everything to her advantage. And that, in my opinion, is why she is the champion of Celebrity MasterChef." Shakira Khan humorously referred to her second place, saying: "Here I am again, the girl who is always the runner-up! But it was an amazing experience, and I truly admire Lauren for her golden performance."
Lauren also prepared a special dessert shaped like a dog bone for fifty guests at the largest and most prestigious dog show in the world, Crufts, during the final week. She also participated in one of the most prestigious events in the culinary calendar, Chef's Table, at one of the world's most famous hotels, The Ritz.
