Ella Beatty is set to establish her place in the film industry by playing the role of Lizzie Borden in the successful Netflix series titled Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story. This 26-year-old actress portrays a woman who is taken to court on charges of murdering her parents.
Life in the Shadow of Stars
Lizzie Borden was accused of murdering her parents, Andrew and Abby Borden, with an axe in 1892 but was acquitted the following year due to lack of sufficient evidence. Now, Ella Beatty, with her famous surname as the daughter of Warren Beatty and Annette Bening, one of Hollywood's most famous couples, takes on this role. She was born in April 2000 in Los Angeles and is also recognized as the niece of another famous actress, Shirley MacLaine.
The Path to Acting
Ella has mentioned in interviews that having famous parents has meant having privilege and access to the acting world for her. She grew up on film sets and in makeup rooms and has always dreamed of acting. She says, "I don't know anything else. I have no background outside of the acting world." Her parents have always supported her and taught her to understand the world as an artist.
Ella Beatty was also active in local theaters, performing in shows like Annie, The Lion King, and The Little Mermaid. However, unlike many actor children, she did not enter the industry as a child actor. Instead, she studied at the dramatic school The Juilliard School in New York and trained under prominent instructors like Moni Yakim. She graduated in 2022.
First Professional Experiences
After graduating, Ella played her first television role in the series Feud: Capote v The Swans. In this historical drama, she portrayed Cry Oshie, the daughter of Truman Capote's lover. Additionally, Ella Beatty will soon appear on Broadway with the show Appropriate and has made friends like Sarah Paulson.
The series Monster, which has been a major commercial success, has captivated audiences with its complex themes of loyalty and chosen family in its stories. Ella has recently expressed her excitement about portraying Lizzie Borden's story, saying, "It’s a dream come true to explore the psychology of such a complex character. I can’t wait to share it with the world."
She also mentioned her friendship with Sarah Paulson, who she collaborates with again on this project, saying, "She is one of my best friends in the world, and working with her again is very special."
Given the previous successes of the series Monster and the strong performances of the actors, it is expected that Ella Beatty will soon become one of Hollywood's beloved faces.
