Charlie Morgan, the Swansea ball boy who gained fame in 2013 after being kicked by Eden Hazard, the former Chelsea star, is once again in the spotlight after selling his vodka empire for an astonishing £300 million.
From a Controversial Moment to Business Success
At the time, Morgan was only 17 years old and when he attempted to retrieve the ball from Hazard, he was unexpectedly attacked. This incident quickly spread in the media, making him a symbol of a controversial event. However, this 15 minutes of fame did not mean the end of his story.
Now 30 years old, Morgan co-founded the vodka brand Au Vodka with his friend Jackson Quinn two years after the incident. The brand quickly gained popularity and became a well-known name in the alcohol industry, thanks to endorsements from celebrities like Floyd Mayweather and Ronaldinho.
A Big Deal with an American Alcohol Giant
Now, the Au Vodka brand has been sold to Cazcaz, a major American company in the alcohol industry, for £300 million. Jake Wentz, CEO of Cazcaz, said about the deal: “Au Vodka is a brand we have long respected. What Charlie, Jackson, and their friend have achieved in less than a decade is extraordinary and rare, and we have big plans for Au.”
The brand has made significant strides in recent years and has moved to new, luxurious offices in Swansea. Now, with this sale, Morgan has achieved a major business success and seems to no longer need to work.
Return to the Scene and Memories of the Past
Morgan also spoke about his memories with Hazard, recalling that during that game he thought it was Juan Mata who had kicked him. He said: “I didn’t realize it was Hazard until I got to the locker room.” Nevertheless, this incident gave him a global fame that he could not have imagined at that time.
Morgan further explained: “When I got back from the game, my mom had 20 missed calls. Within a month, newspapers were outside my house, and even major media outlets like Fox News and Sky News were looking to interview me. For two weeks, I was very famous, and then I returned to my normal life.”
