Volkswagen has recently unveiled a new electric car named Mission Efficiency, which has been introduced as the "most efficient electric car in the world." This vehicle is built on the MEB+ platform, which is also used in the new ID.Polo model. Although this car has attracted attention due to its high efficiency and futuristic design, unfortunately, it is not available for public purchase.
Outstanding Performance on Long Journeys
Volkswagen recorded an average efficiency of 8.27 miles per kilowatt-hour during a nearly 800-mile journey from its development center in Wolfsburg to Vienna. According to engineers, if charging losses are not considered, this efficiency increases to 9.02 miles per kilowatt-hour. Despite having a relatively small battery, this vehicle can travel up to 500 miles under favorable conditions.
Advanced Design and Technology
The highly aerodynamic design of the Mission Efficiency has helped it achieve a drag coefficient of 0.158Cd, which is the lowest drag coefficient recorded for a vehicle that can be realistically mass-produced. This car has set new standards in the automotive industry with features such as solar panels that can add up to 18 miles to the driving range daily, and a body that has been designed to be significantly slimmer.
Many features of this vehicle, including a luxurious interior design and a cargo space of 481 liters, have made it a practical option for everyday use. However, the rear seats may only be suitable for children. Additionally, the presence of hidden compartments for storing everyday items has enhanced the car's functionality.
While Thomas Schäfer, the CEO of Volkswagen, has introduced this vehicle as an effective tool to showcase the company's technological potential in the field of electric vehicles, a question arises in the minds of the audience: should these advanced technologies be kept for display only, or should they be made available to the general public?
