On a cold night in the Lapalala Nature Reserve in Limpopo Province, South Africa, Dwan Kanyaker closely observes the deployment of a thermal drone to locate a solitary cheetah. He and 20 conservation specialists from various African countries are waiting to see this new technology in action. These individuals have come from 11 African countries, from Benin to Madagascar, after successfully completing an online training course for protected area technicians.
